"While we wish the outcome was different, I <br /> congratulate Alabama and the City of Tuscaloosa. I hope they enjoy a taste of South Bend as <br /> they savor this victory." <br /> "It's a lot of fun when the two greatest college football programs in the history of the game <br /> compete for a national championship," said Mayor Maddox. "In Tuscaloosa,Notre Dame has a <br /> tremendous amount of respect for all its traditions and successes." <br /> As part of the wager,the mayors agreed to donate to the winning side's charity of choice.
