Community and Economic Development Committee <br /> June 9, 2003 <br /> Page 2 <br /> No. 03-56 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Council Member King then called for a presentation on Bill No. 03-57 which is a five (5) year <br /> residential real property tax abatement request of Gerald Zock for the property located at 2226 S. <br /> Meade Street. <br /> Michael Beitzinger, Economic Development Specialist, then reviewed his report dated May 27, <br /> 2003 (copy attached). He noted that the petitioner plans to build one (1) one-story home which <br /> will have an estimated value of $60,000. The report concluded that the petitioner meets the <br /> qualifications for a five-year residential tax abatement under § 2-77.1 addressing "Single Family <br /> Real Property Abatement"in the South Bend Municipal Code. <br /> The petitioner, Mr. Gerald Zock, was then introduced to the Committee and was available to <br /> answer questions. No one spoke in favor or in opposition to the Bill. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Kelly made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Kuspa that Bill 03-57 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Council Member King then called for a presentation on Bill No. 03-58 which is a five (5) year <br /> residential real property tax abatement request of Cleland Builders, Inc., for the properties located <br /> at lot numbers 1 through 3 and 73 through 101 Jade Crossing Subdivision, Section One. <br /> Michael Beitzinger, Economic Development Specialist, then reviewed his report dated May 30, <br /> 2003 (copy attached). He noted that the petitioner is currently developing a new subdivision called <br /> Jade Crossing located on 8.79 acres south of Brick Road between Portage Avenue and the U.S. 31 <br /> Bypass. There will be thirty-two (32) homes in the subdivision. The project will cost <br /> approximately $3,877,500. The report concluded that the petitioner meets the qualifications for a <br /> five-year residential tax abatement under § 2-77.1 addressing "Single Family Real Property <br /> Abatement"in the South Bend Municipal Code. <br /> Mr. J. Bernard Feeney of Lang, Feeney & Associates, Inc. made the presentation. Mr. Feeney <br /> noted that this represents the first phase of a total of 102 Iots which will be located on excess of <br /> twenty-five(25) acres. <br /> No one spoke in favor or in opposition to the Bill. <br /> Following discussion, Dr. Varner made a motion,seconded by Council Member Kelly that Bill 03- <br /> 58 be recommended favorably to Council.
