1ommitt t deport <br /> abut 'Works an troptrty Vacation (ommitt <br /> The May 12, 2003 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was called to <br /> order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:45 p.m. in the Council Informal <br /> Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Coleman, Kelly, Kuspa,Varner, <br /> Kirsits and King; City Engineer Carl Littrell, Fire Chief Luther Taylor, Ann-Carol Nash, Terry <br /> Bland of the goat j Ert UUC and Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the members of the Committee present included Council <br /> Members Aranowski,King and himself. <br /> Dr. Varner then called for a presentation on Bill No. 30-03 which is a request to vacate the 1st <br /> north/south alley east of Fellow Street. It was noted that the request was reviewed by the Board of <br /> Public Works and that a concern was raised with regard to a cross-access easement to the garage <br /> for the resident at 518 as addressed in their letter of March 10,2003 (copy attached). <br /> The petitioner was not present, however it was noted that he is a teacher and is on his way to the <br />• meeting. Dr. Varner suggested that the meeting be recessed and reconvened once the petitioner <br /> arrived. Dr. Varner then recessed the Committee meeting at 3:47 p.m. <br /> At 3:50 p.m., the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee meeting was reconvened with <br /> Brian Zbrzezny having joined the meeting. Mr. Zbrzezny, the petitioner for Bill No. 30-03, <br /> apologized for being late. He noted that he owns both properties, namely 514 and 518, and stated <br /> that the alley is not used for trash pick-up. He desires to vacate the alley in order to stop vehicles <br /> from driving through his back yard and cutting the corner of the turns up to ten yards into his <br /> property. He also plans to turn the garage into a shed. <br /> Carl Littrell noted that once the alley is vacated that it will be up to the owner to close it,and in light <br /> of the garage no longer going to be used as a garage the cross-easement would not be necessary. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski, seconded by Council Member King that Bill <br /> No. 30-03.
