1ommitt t deport abut 'Works an troptrty Vacation (ommitt The May 12, 2003 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:45 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Coleman, Kelly, Kuspa,Varner, Kirsits and King; City Engineer Carl Littrell, Fire Chief Luther Taylor, Ann-Carol Nash, Terry Bland of the goat j Ert UUC and Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Varner noted that the members of the Committee present included Council Members Aranowski,King and himself. Dr. Varner then called for a presentation on Bill No. 30-03 which is a request to vacate the 1st north/south alley east of Fellow Street. It was noted that the request was reviewed by the Board of Public Works and that a concern was raised with regard to a cross-access easement to the garage for the resident at 518 as addressed in their letter of March 10,2003 (copy attached). The petitioner was not present, however it was noted that he is a teacher and is on his way to the • meeting. Dr. Varner suggested that the meeting be recessed and reconvened once the petitioner arrived. Dr. Varner then recessed the Committee meeting at 3:47 p.m. At 3:50 p.m., the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee meeting was reconvened with Brian Zbrzezny having joined the meeting. Mr. Zbrzezny, the petitioner for Bill No. 30-03, apologized for being late. He noted that he owns both properties, namely 514 and 518, and stated that the alley is not used for trash pick-up. He desires to vacate the alley in order to stop vehicles from driving through his back yard and cutting the corner of the turns up to ten yards into his property. He also plans to turn the garage into a shed. Carl Littrell noted that once the alley is vacated that it will be up to the owner to close it,and in light of the garage no longer going to be used as a garage the cross-easement would not be necessary. Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski, seconded by Council Member King that Bill No. 30-03. The motion passed.
