it o ntittttt* Uport <br /> tZt t$ <br /> tontittittin <br /> The May 13, 2002, Utilities Committee meeting was called to order by its Chairperson, Council <br /> Member Al `Buddy"Kirsits at 4:32 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, King, Varner, White, <br /> Kirsits and Coleman; Department of Community and Economic Development Director Jon Hunt, <br /> Public Works Director Gary Gilot, Citizen Member Khadihah Muhammad, Michael Danch, <br /> Director of the Division of Environmental Services Jack Dillon, Terry Bland of the '41tUj n <br /> t tt1tnt,and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Kirsits noted that the only item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 26-02 <br /> which is a water utility increase request. <br /> Mr. Gary Gilot made the presentation. He noted that several years ago the rate was decreased from <br /> $ .94 to $ .79 per month. Reserves are now depleted and repairs have gone from 170 to 224. <br /> With an account balance of $638,000 being maintained they should be able to address all such <br /> repairs. It was noted that there are approximately 38,000 water customers. It was also noted that <br /> the$500 deductible would remain in effect. <br /> Dr. Varner requested a written report as to when a down payment is required upfront and when it <br /> is not. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Coleman made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Pfeifer that Bill No. 26-02 be recommended favorably to Council.
