QCommittu import: <br /> rko, littmation, (Cultural &to anti entatainingnt QCommittet <br /> The March 25, 2002 meeting of the Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson Council Member Sean Coleman at 4:53 pm in the Council <br /> Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Pfeifer, Ujdak, Varner, Coleman, Kelly, <br /> Aranowski, and King; Citizen Member Khadijah Muhammad, Jon Hunt, Gary Gilot, Mark <br /> Bradley, Phil Byrd, Terry Bland of the §6outh Aknti Gribunt, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Coleman noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 02-22 <br /> which would support an Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Grant application. <br /> Council Member King noted that last year the Council received a detailed presentation on the <br /> proposed renovation of Coquillard Park. Last year when a similar grant application was filed with <br /> the National Park Service it received favorable comments however at the end of the process the city <br /> was informed that it should apply again the following year. The resolution would support this <br /> year's application for grant assistance, which would require matching funds of $ 150,00 at the <br /> local level. <br /> Mr. Mark Bradley of the Park Department stated that the grant is requesting $ 500,000 in <br /> assistance. The project continues to have lots of interest and support. <br /> Mr. Phil Byrd, an NNRO representative, noted that he grew up in the area just east of Perley <br /> School. He noted that NNRO and the Heritage Foundation are behind the project. <br /> Council Member Coleman noted that a tremendous amount of positive effort has gone into this <br /> project,and he supports the resolution. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Aranowski that Bill No. 02-22 be recommended favorably.
