• <br /> Qtommittee Mori: <br /> parks, Zttreation, Cultural Rrtz an4 entertainment 'l Committee <br /> The May 28, 2002 meeting of the Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson Council Member Sean Coleman at 4:45 pm in the Council <br /> Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Ujdak, Varner, Coleman, Kelly, Kirsits, White <br /> and King; Max Ujdak, Mikki Dobski Shidler, Larry Magliozzi, Jeff Myers, Building <br /> Commissioner Don Fozo, Cathy Bruckner, Terry Bland of the §i5OUth e1C Zribune, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Coleman noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 02-44 <br /> which would celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sister City Agreement between South Bend and <br /> Czestochwa, Poland. <br /> Mikki Dobski Shidler made the presentation.Ms. Shidler noted that in addition to the 10th <br /> anniversary of the Sister City relationship, Czestochwa was also celebrating its 10th Jubilee as <br /> "Days of Celebration". They have invited the City of South Bend to send a delegation. Ms. <br /> Shidler noted that Mayor Steve has never been to Czestochwa and that the City of South Bend <br /> hopes to send a delegation for the August 25th through August 30, 2002 celebration. Ms. Shidler <br /> noted that she filed a list summarizing some of the activities between the two(2)cities with the City <br /> Clerk's Office which focused primarily on the cultural arts, travel opportunities and music. She <br /> added that the City of South Bend could be more proactive in the future. Ms. Shidler stated that <br /> her Rotary Club has expressed an interest to help out financially if necessary. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member Ujdak <br /> that Bill No.02-44 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Under unfinished business, Council Member Coleman stated that Clarence Wright, Zoo Director <br /> would like to preview the Master Plan at a Committee meeting which would be held at the Zoo on <br /> June 10th as the last Committee meeting of the day. <br /> Council President Kelly stated that Jason Jacobs made a presentation at Kiawanis and even brought <br /> a large snake and cockroaches. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Coleman <br /> adjourned the meeting at 4:52 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member Sean Coleman, Chairperson <br /> Parks, Recreation,Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee <br /> KCF:kmf <br /> Attachment <br />
