Qtommtttt Zeport Oaks', Urrtatiort, Cultural &Is au4 enttrtaintatut tvm-mttt* The November 11, 2002 meeting of the Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts and Entertainment was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Varner, Kirsits, Aranowski, Pfeifer, King, Kelly, Coleman, Kuspa and White; Community & Economic Development Director Jon Hunt„ Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar,and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. Council Member Coleman noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 81-02 which would appropriate $130,000 from Fund 201 and $45,000 from Fund 405 for construction costs of the Potawatomi Zoo Hospital. Council Member Coleman noted that no presenter was present from the City Administration. He then called upon Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar to be the guest presenter on the bill. Mr. Bodnar noted that he is the attorney for the Park Board of Commissioners. The Bill would appropriate monies to pay for the construction of the Potawatomi Zoo Hospital which represent donations from the Zoological Society. tS'. Council Member King then made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kuspa that Bill No. 81- 02 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Under unfinished business, Council Member Pfeifer asked for an update on: 1. Security at Potawatomi Zoo. 2. Current status of the donations received for the wallabies. 3. Current status of a new Zoo Director and whether a national search was underway. Council Member Coleman suggested that he would ask the Interim Director to attend a Committee meeting and address these concerns.
