• <br /> 1ommittte Atoort <br /> Wag, Ztvrtation, Cultural 'Arts an Qnt rt tnmmnt Qommitt u <br /> The November 25, 2002, Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee meeting <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman at 3:50 p.m. in the Council <br /> Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski,Pfeifer, Kelly, King, Varner, White, <br /> Kirsits, Kuspa and Coleman; Mayor Stephen Luecke, Moms Performing Arts Center Executive <br /> Director Dennis J. Andres, Department of Community and Economic Development Director Jon <br /> Hunt, Jim Frick, Beth Leonard, Terry Bland of the 'out j Ott t'ihntttt, and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Coleman noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 93-02 <br /> which would appropriate$83,900 from the Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund <br /> Mr. Dennis J. Andres, Executive Director of the Morns Performing Arts Center made the <br /> presentation. He noted that the monies would be spent on seven(7) projects,namely: <br /> 1. $38,500 on an exterior dumpster/compactor. <br /> 2. $17,000 on cameras and addition security equipment. <br /> 3. $16,700 for awnings and canopies. <br /> 4. $6,000 for upgrading the telephone system. <br /> 5. $2,500 for locks. <br /> 6. $2,350 for restoration of the gold leaf on the ceiling of the Grand Lobby. <br /> 7. $850 for a pallet truck. <br /> Ne noted that there is a$1.00 surcharge per ticket which is the source of funds for Fund#416. <br /> Council Member White inquired how much money had been paid into the fund this year and was <br /> advised that approximately $120,000 to date has been deposited. It was also noted that the time <br /> has expired with regard to the gold leaf and therefore the cost would be paid from this fund. <br /> Council Member King then made a motion, seconded by Council Member Aranowski that Bill No. <br /> 93-02 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Mayor Luecke then asked Mr. Andres if the number 25 had any special meaning. Mr. Andres <br /> stated that not only is it the Century Center's 25th anniversary, but that the Morris Performing Arts <br /> Center is listed as 25 in America in the number of tickets sold, with Atlanta, Detroit and NY's <br /> Radio City being the top three. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Coleman <br /> adjourned the meeting at 3:59 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member Sean Coleman,Chairperson <br /> Parks,Recreation, Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee <br /> KCF:kmf Attachment <br />
