CITY OF SOUTH BEND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />COA #2021-0413 is approved. <br />ii. 2021-0419 918-920 Leland Avenue Chapin Park, Ordinance #9574-05 <br />(Audio Position 16:23) <br />The staff report was presented by Adam Toering. <br />Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends denial. <br />The applicant was represented by <br />Charles Sapien, 920 Leland Ave <br />The public was represented by- <br />N/A <br />yN/A <br />Spirited discussion ensued; Commissioner Downs-Krostenko reiterated to Applicant <br />Charles Sapien the commission does not want to motion to have the replaced <br />windows removed, not because they like them because they don't like them, but <br />because that seems like a horrible thing to make you do. (Audio Position 46:18) <br />After due consideration, the following action was taken: <br />Upon a motion by Joan Down s-Krosten ko, seconded by Patrick Deegan and carried <br />by a unanimous vote, the Historic Preservation Commission APPROVES the existing <br />9 windows with the removal of the divided lights, DENY the replacement of the <br />remaining windows and to make note that future generations do not allow an in-kind <br />approval of the vinyl windows for COA#2021-0419. <br />Six in favor, none opposed. <br />Vote: 6-0. Motion as stated on COA#2021-0419 is passed. <br />Commissioner Hertel (AYE): I vote to deny because vinyl windows are not <br />appropriate <br />according to the standards and guidelines and this allows the applicant to have the <br />opportunity to explore their options with the historical integrity of the property. <br />Commissioner Wyncott (AYE): I vote to deny because we need more information on <br />the current state of the windows, and I do not wish to see further wood windows in <br />the dumpster. <br />Commissioner Stalheim (AYE): I vote to deny for the reasons already expressed. <br />Commissioner Andrews (AYE): I vote to deny because of the reasons my fellow <br />commissioners have already stated. <br />Commissioner Deegan (AYE): I vote to deny for the reasons already stated. <br />Commissioner Downs-Krostenko (AYE): I vote to deny for the reasons already <br />stated. <br />iii. 2021-0421 930 Riverside Drive Riverside Drive Ordinance #7469-85 <br />Page 12 <br />
