The <br /> increase is in the amount of $1.50 per customer per month. <br /> The reason for the increase is twofold. First is the landfill <br /> costs . These fees have already risen by 70(r per yard since the <br /> last rate increase and are expected to go up another 75(r per yard <br /> in March of 1988. We have been experiencing yearly increases in <br /> landfill costs . <br /> The second reason is we are attempting to make the Solid Waste <br /> collection program a totally self-supported program. Vehicle <br /> maintenance costs were previously handled by other departments and <br /> are now included in the proposed budget . <br /> Another change proposed in this ordinance is with added <br /> language to clarify charges associated with our extra pick-up <br /> program. <br /> I will be available to answer any questions you may have. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> %'41.47,11444. 1 <br /> John E.
