Dieter, Chairperson <br />Community & Economic Development Committee <br />South Bend Common Council <br />4th Floor, County City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: Commercial Real Property Tax Abatement Petition for: <br />HERAEUS KULZER, INC. <br />Dear Council Member Dieter: <br />On April 14, 2008, the Common Council approved a Designating Resolution for a tax abatement <br />for the subject firm. At that time the firm had not completed a list of construction contractors and <br />suppliers for its proposed project as called for in the petition forms. In approving the Designating <br />Resolution it was noted that the firm would qualify for no more than an eight-year tax abatement <br />term. The firm agreed to provide the required information prior to the Council considering its <br />confirming resolution. The project entails the renovation of an existing building located at 4315 <br />South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, to be used for the firm's corporate headquarters. The firm <br />has now completed the list of contractors and suppliers and submitted it to me. I have reviewed the <br />information and found that the firm qualifies for a tax abatement term of five years. A copy of the <br />Public Benefit Points Summary used to calculate the abatement term is attached together with a <br />complete copy of the tax abatement petition.
