• <br /> • W , , <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 7923-88 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> ENTITLED "TRUCK ROUTES" <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> The Common Council and the City administration has determined that an <br /> amendment is necessary to the Truck Route Ordinance. The following bill <br /> incorporates the amendment which is deemed to be in the best interest of <br /> the City of South Bend. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED. BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION I . Chapter 20, Article 8, Section 20-106 is amended to read as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 20-106. Definitions. <br /> As used in this Article, the following terms shall mean: <br /> (a) "Truck" as the term is used in this Section, is a vehicle <br /> having three ( 3 ) axles with-an-eves}}-Iength-ef-twenty-4-29}-feet-mere; <br /> er-ever-ene-fi}-ten-eapaeity; or a vehicle over ten thousand ( 10,000) <br /> gross vehicle weight, and includes semi-trailer trucks and either the <br /> tractor pulling the same, or the trailer itself. Truck includes every <br /> self-propelled commercial vehicle designed, used or maintained for the <br /> commercial transport of goods or property.'-desefbed-as-feiiews- <br /> (b) "City block" as the term is used in this Section is that portion <br /> of a public street bounded by the highest and lowest numbers within any <br /> sequence of 100s, such as 200 to 299, 300 to 399, etc. <br /> fa}--Frew-a-paint-outside-the-Eity-through-the-Ety-te-a-paint <br /> etttside-the-eity; <br /> f»}--Fran-a-paint-outside-the-city-te-a-paint-within-the-Bity <br /> IimIts,-er- <br /> fe}--From-a-paint-within-the-Ety-iimits-te-a-paint-outside-the <br /> Bty-I4mits7 <br /> fd}--From-a-paint-within-the-Eitp-}units-te-a-paint-within-tie <br /> eity-Iimits- <br /> (c) This Article also applies to any vehicles manufactured, assembled <br /> or modified on a commercial or military basis and transported or operated <br /> on/in the streets of the City of South Bend. Such vehicles must be so <br /> operated on truck routes in accordance with this ordinance. This shall <br /> include any and all vehicles manufactured, assembled, modified, <br /> transported or operated singularly or in quantity by any business <br /> operating in or through the City of South Bend. <br />
