Landscaping is proposed for the five plus acres surrounding the house and barns. Standards II. Treatment - Landscaping Treatment shall be defined as any change of surface materials that will not alter the style or original form. Such improvements which include . . . landscaping lawns involve a change that can potentially enhance or detract from the character of the landmark. . . . review the proposed treatment for character and style consistency with the original . . . . III. Renovation and Additions Additions to landmarks should not detract from the original form and unity of the landmark and should not cover singular examples of architectural detail. Additions to landmarks should be added in a manner that does not disrupt the visible unity of the site. The proportions, materials and ratios of the existing structures should be carried through in the additions. The proposal is for a small storage extension (12 x 10) and rear stoop at the rear of the house to be replaced by a 14' x 24' room addition to the house with a wrap -around deck. The design of the addition includes the use of similar materials as well as three sliding glass doors with transom windows above. A hip roof covers a small bay window. The deck begins at the southern end of the original side porch and wraps around the new addition. The deck has a railing of capped posts and turned banisters, and has a patterned brick skirt under it which matches those found on the porches around the house.
