ADDEMDUM FOR MAY 16, 1988 MEETING <br />B. BUDGET AND FINANCE <br />The HPC received notice on April 28 from the Department of <br />Natural Resources that the Survey Records Management Grant <br />for 1988-89 has been funded at $24,000. The Historic <br />Preservation Activities Grant for 1968-89 has not been <br />funded. The director has requested information regarding <br />this decision. If the HPA grant is not funded at all for <br />1988-89, the HPC will lose the financial support for the <br />Administrative Assistant and Secretary positions and will <br />need to realign staff to other responsibilities. <br />The HPC proposals for the 1989 County, City and Communicty <br />Development budgets are being prepared for meetings in June. <br />C. HISTORIC DISTRICTS <br />The first meeting of the East Wayne Historic District <br />Liasion Committee was held on May 10, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. The <br />Director, Lynette Jentoft-Nilsen, and Historic District <br />Chairperson, Martha Choitz, attended. Officers were elected <br />and plans begun for the district Dedication event. <br />The duplication of the East Wayne Preservation Guidelines <br />booklet is nearing completion, with the collation and <br />binding and cover preparation yet to be done. Nearly fifty <br />pages long, it includes• a history of the district, general <br />definitions and procedures, listing of the houses within the <br />district and the preservation standards for the district. <br />The books will be distributed at the Dedication program. <br />For the Riverside district, the HPC charged $1 to help <br />defray publication costs. <br />F. PR & COMMUNITY EDUCATION REPORT <br />The director will be the guest speaker for the American <br />Business Women's Association dinner meeting on June 7, 1988. <br />The administrative assistant will lead one of the Northwest <br />Neighbor Association bike tours on June 12. <br />G. STAFF REPORT <br />The Annual Mayor's Conference on May 10 was the HPC special <br />activity for National Preservation Week. Over 80 <br />individuals attended this• day -long event which focused on <br />the reuse of old industrial buildings. Peter Aucilla, <br />Director of the Historic Preservation Commission of Lowell, <br />Massachusetts, was the keynote speaker and he outlined the <br />I <br />
