5. Historic Landmarks <br />a) Central High School - P. <br />Mr. Poland reported that he as well as Mr•. Newbur•n and Mr•s. <br />Petrass have been attending the Central High School Renovation <br />Plan Committee meetinos. Mr•. Poland also stated that the <br />architects LeRoy Troyer and Associates have indicated in their <br />report, that they do not feel a need for the industrial building <br />to remain and that this area. is needed for additional parking. <br />Mr•s. Sporl eder• suggested that the Commission prepare a <br />documentation of the history of the Central High School vocational <br />building for• our presentation. <br />b) South Fiend Brewing Association - 1636 LWI-%I - Landmark status_. <br />Ms•. Jentoft-Nilsen reported that Mr•. Oxian requests. to pursue <br />landmark status for the South Bend Brewing Association at 1536 <br />Lincolnway West. Mr. Newburn moved to assign to Landmark <br />Committee; Mr. Heredeen seconded; Mr. Oxian against; motion <br />passed. <br />6. Public Relations Lea Community Education <br />Ms. Jentoft-Nilsen reported that Mr. Poland prepared information for <br />and attended the Navarre Cabin dedication on June 10, 1988, along with <br />other Commission members. <br />Ms. Jentoft-Nilsen announced that Mr•s. Spor•l eder• prepared and spoke on <br />historic landscaping for the Fernwood Garden Club in April, 1988. <br />7. Staff Report <br />a) Survey Records. Management Project <br />Ms. Jentoft-Nilsen reported that staff has been working on the <br />completion of Quadrants 55 and 56 for the SRM project. Ms.. <br />Jentoft-Nilsen also reported that an extension has been granted <br />for the Historic Preservation Activities grant through August 31, <br />1955. <br />b) Section iGt, Training Session - Seattle, WA <br />Ms. Jentoft-Nilsen requests permission to attend the Section 106, <br />3 day training session in Seattle, WA. Ms.. Jentoft-Nilsen <br />further stated that the projected cost of $575 would be covered <br />under our present DNR grant.
