Roofs and Roofin4_
2) Recommended
t.Jhenever possible, the original shape and
materials of the roof should be restored.
Particular effort should be made to retain
materials such as slate, tile, and other unique
materials not commonly found in new construction.
Roof covering which is deteriorated beyond repair
should be replaced with new material that matched
as closely as possible the original composition,
size, shape, color, and texture.
RECOMMENDATION
Slate, as an original roofing material, can last from 50 to
100 years., depending upon its quality. Upon investigation,
it is obvious that the slate roofing of this house is
extremely deterioriated and needs to be replaced.
There are several types of appropriate replacement material
which range from the Supradur brand mineral fiber shingle
which closely resembles slate to the as.phaltlfiberglas.s
materials which are available in slate blue color. Each of
these replacement possibilities vary to the degree in how
closely the slate is replicated.
