If tree roots are encountered and must be removed due to grades, the contractor shall contact a <br />representative from the City of South Bend Engineering Division. Tree roots shall not be removed <br />without the on-site approval of the Engineer. The cost of root removal shall not be paid for <br />separately but shall be included on the cost of other items. <br />8. Water service pipe and fittings shall be Type “K” Copper Pipe. <br />2. All curb valves and boxes will be located in the parking lane. <br />3. The service shall include the copper, corporation stop curb and valve. Curb box shall be provided <br />by City. <br />4. The Contractor shall be responsible for coordination with South Bend Water Works and all <br />tapping requirements per City of South Bend Standard 5-1, see Appendix B. <br />5. The cost of work for excavation, backfill, compact aggregate, compacting, leveling and grading <br />shall not be paid separately but included in the cost of Water Service. All work shall be done <br />according to City of South Bend Standard 2-49, see Appendix B. <br />6. Water Meter Pit shall be according to City of South Bend Standard 5-13, see Appendix B. <br />2. The pay item Water Meter Pit shall include all labor and materials to provide fully functional water <br />meter pit with 48” casting, water meter, piping, valves and backflow preventor. Backflow preventor <br />should include a vandal cover with padlock system. <br />3. Payment shall be made at the Unit Price specified in the Proposal as follows: <br />Water Meter Pit………………. EA <br /> <br />XXV. “B” BORROW (ALTERNATE) <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 211 <br />B. Additions <br />1. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary equipment, labor, and materials to complete backfill of <br />excavations with “B” Borrow material if excavated material is determined to be unsatisfactory for <br />backfill by the Engineer. It is anticipated that native material will be acceptable for backfill. No topsoil <br />or organic material will be allowed to be used as backfill. <br />2. The actual quantity of “B” Borrow completed and accepted will be measured for payment at the unit <br />cost set forth in the proposal. <br />3. The exhibits consist of 12 Sheets in total, including appendix fly sheets. <br />2. The work shall conform to the plans. <br />3. The drawings are schematic in nature. <br />4. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for estimating dimensions and quantities of materials. <br />5. In the event that the Special Provisions and the Plans conflict, the Special Provisions shall govern. <br /> <br />C. Appendices: <br />1.
