Work to be performed shall include furnishing all labor, services, materials, insurance and equipment to complete water tap and utility connection for the proposed El Campito community garden within the City of South Bend. 2. The Contractor shall preserve and protect all surrounding property, structures, tenants, visitors and their property from damage caused by the Contractor’s operations. XVIII. MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 110 B. Additions: 1. The payment of mobilization will be limited to the greater of 5% of the total contract cost and 50% of the lump sum cost of the contract item for mobilization and demobilization. The remainder of the payment for the item will be considered for demobilization and paid at the completion of the project. 2. Mobilization and Demobilization will be paid for under the lump sum item and price as set forth in the Proposal. XIX. BRICK PAVEMENT REMOVE AND PALLETIZE A. Prevailing Specifications: City of South Bend Construction Standards & Specifications, Standard 2-49 B. Additions: 1. All work shall be done according to City of South Bend Standard 2-49, see Appendix B. 2. Existing brick pavement shall be removed for a width 3 feet greater than the anticipated trench. Existing brick pavement to be restored shall be salvaged undamaged, palletized, and delivered to the South Bend Street Department (731 S Lafayette Blvd). The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring the security of the salvaged brick during the period between removal and delivery. 3. Brick pavement shall be re-installed by others at a future date. 4. Payment shall be made at the Unit Price as specified in the Proposal as follows: Brick Pavement Remove and Palletize ……….SY XX. CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTER, REMOVE AND REPLACE A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 202, 605 B. Additions: 1. The pay item Concrete Curb and Gutter, Remove and Replace, shall include removing the full depth of existing curb and gutter, and installing new curb and gutter in accordance with the plans and special provisions herein. 2. Removal limits shall include all areas designated on the plans necessary for installation. Precise removal limits shall be coordinated with the City prior to starting work. The Contractor shall dispose of the removed concrete at an offsite disposal site properly licensed to receive such material. Removed material shall not be stockpiled at the work location. The cost of hauling of materials offsite shall not be paid for separately but included in the cost of concrete curb removal. The Contractor shall be responsible for preventing any removed materials from entering any storm drains. 3. Concrete or other items outside the removal limits damaged by the Contractor or any subcontractors during the removal process will be repaired or replaced to the satisfaction of the Engineer at no additional cost. 4. Saw cuts required for removal shall not be paid for separately, but included in the cost of the removal items. 5. The contractor shall minimize the area of disturbances not included in the plans. 6. The Contractor shall ensure that adequate drainage exists once new concrete curb and gutter are installed. The Contractor shall ensure that low spots do not exist and that water can flow to existing inlets similar to pre-existing conditions. 7. If tree roots are encountered and must be removed due to grades, the contractor shall contact a representative from the City of South Bend Engineering Division. Tree roots shall not be removed without the on-site approval of the Engineer. The cost of root removal shall not be paid for separately but shall be included on the cost of other items. 8.
