XVII. DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: None <br />B. Additions <br />1. Work to be performed shall include furnishing all labor, services, materials, insurance and <br />equipment to complete water tap and utility connection for the proposed El Campito <br />community garden within the City of South Bend. <br />2. The Contractor shall preserve and protect all surrounding property, structures, tenants, visitors and <br />their property from damage caused by the Contractor's operations. <br />XVIII. MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, IN DOT Standard Specifications Section 110 <br />B. Additions. <br />1. The payment of mobilization will be limited to the greater of 5% of the total contract cost and 50% <br />of the lump sum cost of the contract item for mobilization and demobilization. The remainder of the <br />payment for the item will be considered for demobilization and paid at the completion of the project. <br />2. Mobilization and Demobilization will be paid for under the lump sum item and price as set forth in <br />the Proposal. <br />XIX. BRICK PAVEMENT REMOVE AND PALLETIZE <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: City of South Bend Construction Standards & Specifications, Standard 249 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. All work shall be done according to City of South Send Standard 2-49, see Appendix B. <br />2, Existing brick pavement shall be removed for a width 3 feet greater than the anticipated trench. <br />Existing brick pavement to be restored shall be salvaged undamaged, palletized, and delivered to <br />the South Bend Street Department (731 S Lafayette Blvd). The Contractor shall be responsible <br />for ensuring the security of the salvaged brick during the period between removal and delivery. <br />3. Brick pavement shall be re -installed by others at a future date. <br />4. Payment shall be made at the Unit Price as specified in the Proposal as follows: <br />Brick Pavement Remove and Palletize ........_SY <br />XX. CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTER. REMOVE AND REPLACE <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 202, 605 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The pay item Concrete Curb and Gutter, Remove and Replace, shall include removing the full <br />depth of existing curb and gutter, and installing new curb and gutter in accordance with the plans <br />and special provisions herein. <br />2. Removal limits shall include all areas designated on the plans necessary for installation. Precise <br />removal limits shall be coordinated with the City prior to starting work. The Contractor shall dispose <br />of the removed concrete at an offsite disposal site properly licensed to receive such material. <br />Removed material shall not be stockpiled at the work location. The cost of hauling of materials <br />offsite shall not be paid for separately but included in the cost of concrete curb removal. The <br />Contractor shall be responsible for preventing any removed materials from entering any storm <br />drains. <br />3. Concrete or other items outside the removal limits damaged by the Contractor or any <br />subcontractors during the removal process will be repaired or replaced to the satisfaction of the <br />Engineer at no additional cost. <br />4. Saw cuts required for removal shall not be paid for separately, but included in the cost of the <br />removal items. <br />5. The contractor shall minimize the area of disturbances not included in the plans. <br />6. The Contractor shall ensure that adequate drainage exists once new concrete curb and gutter are <br />installed. The Contractor shall ensure that low spots do not exist and that water can flow to existing <br />inlets similar to pre-existing conditions. <br />7. If tree roots are encountered and must be removed due to grades, the contractor shall contact a <br />representative from the City of South Bend Engineering Division. Tree roots shall not be removed <br />without the on-site approval of the Engineer. The cost of root removal shall not be paid for <br />separately but shall be included on the cost of other items. <br />8.
