Horvath succeeds Gary Gilot, who has served as both a volunteer and interim <br /> manager this year. <br /> "We are thrilled to welcome Eric to the City of South Bend," said Mayor Buttigieg. "Eric <br /> is a local professional who has done a significant amount of high-caliber work in both the <br /> private and public sectors. His experience will serve the people of South Bend well and <br /> he's a great addition to the city's leadership team." <br /> Horvath, a native of South Bend, most recently the services manager for the northern <br /> region of the state of Indiana for American Structurepoint, an architecture and <br /> engineering firm headquartered in Indianapolis. Horvath was responsible for the <br /> administration and operations of the regional office in South Bend,where he specialized <br /> in water, sewer, transportation, and environmental engineering design, as well as the <br /> financial management and budgetary control of large public works projects. <br /> "I am excited about the opportunity to get back to public service, and I look forward to <br /> serving with the Mayor, Common Council, and Administration to help move the City of <br /> South Bend forward," said Horvath, whose tentative start date is December 10. <br /> "Eric and I have worked together for a lot of years," said Gilot, who was the public works <br /> director in South Bend for over 12 years after serving as the public works director in <br /> Elkhart. "I know him well can attest to his extraordinary abilities to lift the level of play <br /> of an entire team. He is very intelligent and has a strong work ethic. He is a strategic <br /> thinker.
