CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />1. 2020-1028 1202 E Wayne St East Wayne Street Ordinance No. 7796-87 <br /> <br />Representation: Jon and Jennifer Balsbaugh, 1202 E Wayne St, South Bend, IN 46615 <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br /> <br />Date: November 9, 2020 <br />Application Number: 2020-1028 <br />Property Location: 1202 East Wayne Street South <br />Architectural Style/Date/Architect or Builder: Colonial Revival/1949/Barry House <br />Property Owner: Jon and Jennifer Balsbaugh <br />Landmark or District Designation: East Wayne Street Local Historic District, #7796-87 <br />Rating: Non-Contributing <br /> <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: The original two story house was constructed on a T-plan and set upon a brick <br />foundation with basement windows at the side and rear. There is a gable roof with cross gabled covered with asphalt shingles . <br />The second floor overhangs at the cross gable over a large bay window with casement windows and upper light fixed transoms. <br />The first story façade has stone facing; the second story has wood siding covered with aluminum. There is a large brick <br />chimney on the side at the cross gable near the concrete entry. All of the windows are the original metal casement windows. <br /> <br />ALTERATIONS: COA #2017-0531 allowed for the removal and replacement of 38 courses of brick on the chimney and the <br />replacement of damaged flues as needed. COA #2009-0601A allowed for the replacement of the windows with new Quaker- <br />manufactured windows (not completed). COA #2005-0411 allowed for the removal and replacement of the roof. <br /> <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: “Replacement of all windows on upper floor and main floor great room + kitchen” <br />
