<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
<br />
<br />SECTION I. The Common Council hereby confirms its Declaratory Resolution
<br />designating the area described herein as an Economic Revitalization Area for the
<br />purposes of tax abatement. Such designation is for Real property tax abatement only and
<br />is limited to two (2) calendar years from the date of adoption of the Declaratory
<br />Resolution by the Common Council.
<br />
<br />SECTION II. The Common Council hereby determines that the property owner is
<br />qualified for and is granted Real property tax deduction for a period of five (5) years, and
<br />further determines that the petition, the Memorandum of Agreement between the
<br />Petitioner and the City of South Bend, and the Statement of Benefits comply with
<br />Chapter 2, Article 6, of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend and Indiana Code
<br />6-1.1-12 et seq.
<br />
<br />SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
<br />adoption by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor.

<br />Mr. Bernie Bolka, Vice-President, Finance & Administration, 4315 S. Lafayette
<br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill.
<br />
<br />Mr. Bolka advised that Heraeus Kulzer, Inc. is proposing to renovate a 25,000 square foot
<br />existing building in order to combine their managerial/administrative staff with their
<br />manufacturing facility that is already on the site. The building is the eastern most of
<br />three connected buildings and fronts on South Lafayette Boulevard. This move will
<br />improve the efficiency of both operations. The company manufactures and distributes
<br />dental consumable products on the site. The estimated cost of the project is $1,800,000.

<br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time.

<br />Mr. Robert Mathia, Assistance Director, Economic Development, 12 Floor County-City
<br />Building, 227 W. Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, spoke in favor of this bill.
<br />
<br />Mr. Mathia advised that this project is a good fit for the City of South Bend. He
<br />encouraged the Council favorable support.
<br />
<br />There being no one else present wishing to speak either in favor or in opposition to this
<br />Resolution, Councilmember Dieter made a motion to adopt this Resolution.
<br />Councilmember White seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was
<br />adopted by a roll call vote of eight (8) ayes and one (1) nay (Councilmember Henry
<br />Davis)
