REGULAR MEETING APRIL 14, 2008 Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the South Bend wrestling teams, their coaches, principals, athletic directors, family and friends; and especially the twenty (20) student-athletes who won in their individual weight class in the 2008 South Bend City Wrestling Championship. Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard-work, discipline, and dedication, both in the classroom and on the wrestling mat by each of these student-athletes has enabled each of these individuals to be an excellent role model for all students throughout our country; with each student-athlete bringing the highest of honors to himself, his family and friends, his school, and all of the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. st s/Derek D. Luecke, Mayor of South Bend Councilmember Derek Dieter, 4903 Starboard Dr., South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the Resolution in its entirety and presenting to the Coaches and Student Athletes of the Wrestling Team. A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this Resolution. Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. Councilmember Kirsits seconded the motion which carried. RESOLUTION NO. 3847-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY HONORING STANLEY CLARK SCHOOL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2008 INDIANA STATE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD CHAMPIONSHIP Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes that the 2008 Indiana State Science Olympiad was held in Bloomington on March 29, 2008 at Indiana University; and Whereas, the annual Science Olympiad is a hands-on science competition for middle and high school students with twenty-three (23) events covering all of the science disciplines which include physics, biology and chemistry, as well as math disciplines, with many requiring teamwork and cooperation; and 4
