DAGGER) d/b/a OLD FORT <br />BUILDING SUPPLY OF SOUTH BEND, INC. <br />DATE: APRIL 23, 2008 <br />On April 23, 2008, a petition for real property tax abatement consideration for property located at <br />1401 South Main Street was filed with the City Clerk by Old Fort Building Supply of South Bend, <br />Incorporated on behalf of the 1s1 Source Land Trust #13 (Robert F. Jagger). Pursuant to Chapter 2, <br />Article 6, Section 2-82 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, this petition was referred to <br />the Department of Community and Economic Development for purposes of investigation and <br />preparation of a report determining whether the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area <br />pursuant to I.C.6-1.1-12.1 and whether all zoning requirements have been met. <br />The Department of Community and Economic Development has reviewed the petition, investigated <br />the area, and makes the following report. <br />PROJECT SUMMARY <br />Old Fort Building Supply is proposing to construct a 12,000 square foot storage warehouse with the <br />addition of an outside storage area for products specific to Old Fort's business. The additional <br />capacity will enable the company to buy in larger volume and remain competitive in the current <br />downturn of the construction industry. The estimated dollar value of the project is $325,000. <br />Old Fort Building .Supply is a major supplier of construction materials to the Michiana area. <br />Between 80 - 90% of the company's sales are to professional contractors and subcontractors.
