2013&2014 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance <br /> Substitute Bill No.57-12 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Section I. Recognition: The South Bend Common Council recognizes the Fire Negotiating <br /> Team which represents the South Bend Firefighters' Association Local No. 362 of the International <br /> Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the South <br /> Bend Fire Department, except the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs for purposes <br /> of negotiating annual pay and monetary fringe benefits,which are addressed in this ordinance. <br /> Section II. (a). Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications" mean <br /> categories for salary and annual pay purposes only. Rank does not mean salary classification. <br /> (b). Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual <br /> pays for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, including upper level policy making <br /> positions as defined by Indiana Code § 36-8-1-12, for calendar years 2013 and 2014 shall be <br /> established as follows: <br /> Salary Classification Effective 01-01-13 Effective 01-01-14 <br /> Fire Chief $82,146 $84,610 <br /> Assistant Fire Chiefs $75,353 $77,613 <br /> Battalion Chiefs $65,029 $66,980 <br /> Captains $54,900 $56,900 <br /> First Class Firefighter $51,550 $53,100 <br /> Second Class Firefighter $46,150 $47,150 <br /> Third Class Firefighter $38,000 $39,000 <br /> Recognizing the Board of Public Safety's role, as set forth in the Indiana Code § 36-8-3-3, the South <br /> Bend Common Council acknowledges that the provisions of Board of Public Safety Resolution No. <br /> 62-2009, which was adopted on December 16, 2009, shall apply to all other fire department rank <br /> restructuring and reorganization matters.' <br /> (c). Annual Pay for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of <br /> the South Bend Fire Department shall be $36,325 in the 2013 calendar year and $37,325 in the 2014 <br /> calendar year. <br /> (d). Salaries for Non-Rank Specialties: Qualified sworn members of the South Bend Fire <br /> Department who are regularly assigned to perform any of the following non-rank specialties, shall be <br /> paid as follows: <br /> Non-Rank Specialties: Effective 01-01-13 Effective 01:01-14 <br /> Arson Investigators $54,900 $56,900 <br /> Inspectors $54,900 $56,900 <br /> Instructors $54,900 $56,900 <br /> Lieutenant/Paramedic $52,875 $54,175 <br /> Pump Engineer/First Driver $52,325 $54,000 <br /> A copy of Board of Public Safety Resolution No. 62-2009 is on file in the Office of the City Clerk in the flat file for <br /> Ordinance No. 10043-10 passed by the Common Council on September 30,2010,for informational purposes <br />
