2013&2014 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance Substitute Bill No.57-12 Page 2 Section I. Recognition: The South Bend Common Council recognizes the Fire Negotiating Team which represents the South Bend Firefighters' Association Local No. 362 of the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, except the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs for purposes of negotiating annual pay and monetary fringe benefits,which are addressed in this ordinance. Section II. (a). Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications" mean categories for salary and annual pay purposes only. Rank does not mean salary classification. (b). Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual pays for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, including upper level policy making positions as defined by Indiana Code § 36-8-1-12, for calendar years 2013 and 2014 shall be established as follows: Salary Classification Effective 01-01-13 Effective 01-01-14 Fire Chief $82,146 $84,610 Assistant Fire Chiefs $75,353 $77,613 Battalion Chiefs $65,029 $66,980 Captains $54,900 $56,900 First Class Firefighter $51,550 $53,100 Second Class Firefighter $46,150 $47,150 Third Class Firefighter $38,000 $39,000 Recognizing the Board of Public Safety's role, as set forth in the Indiana Code § 36-8-3-3, the South Bend Common Council acknowledges that the provisions of Board of Public Safety Resolution No. 62-2009, which was adopted on December 16, 2009, shall apply to all other fire department rank restructuring and reorganization matters.' (c). Annual Pay for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of the South Bend Fire Department shall be $36,325 in the 2013 calendar year and $37,325 in the 2014 calendar year. (d). Salaries for Non-Rank Specialties: Qualified sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department who are regularly assigned to perform any of the following non-rank specialties, shall be paid as follows: Non-Rank Specialties: Effective 01-01-13 Effective 01:01-14 Arson Investigators $54,900 $56,900 Inspectors $54,900 $56,900 Instructors $54,900 $56,900 Lieutenant/Paramedic $52,875 $54,175 Pump Engineer/First Driver $52,325 $54,000 A copy of Board of Public Safety Resolution No. 62-2009 is on file in the Office of the City Clerk in the flat file for Ordinance No. 10043-10 passed by the Common Council on September 30,2010,for informational purposes
