ASCOM <br />Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Operating and Economic impact <br />Analysis - Rapid City, South Dakota <br />AECOM Economics recently completed an analysis for a new multipurpose events center <br />on the campus of Rapid City's Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, which currently includes a <br />10,00 -seat arena, a 7,000 -seat arena, a theater, and multipurpose meeting /convention <br />space. The analysis focused on the future operations of a new multipurpose arena to <br />replace the obsolete f 0,000 -Seat Barnett Arena. <br />The analysis included forecasts of the future operations of the entire Civic Center <br />complex, such as events by type and facility, attendance, and revenues and expenses <br />under two scenarios: an "as -is" scenario that assumed no new development at the Civic <br />Center, and a second scenario that assumes the development of a new events center. <br />Based on these detailed forecasts, we estimated the economic and fiscal impacts to be <br />captured within Rapid City under the two scenarios.
