Q, - <br /> ,.,, <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> HONORING LASALLE INTERMEDIATE ACADEMY FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE U.S. <br /> DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AS A NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL <br /> ere , the South Bend Common Council notes that the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program <br /> recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high <br /> levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' levels of academic achievement; and <br /> Offereatt since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has <br /> honored America's most successful public and private elementary, middle, and high schools, with each such <br /> honored school awarded a National Blue Ribbon Flag to proudly fly at their school's entrance; and <br /> G ereael the Common Council recognizes that the South Bend Community School corporation is St. Joseph <br /> County's oldest and largest school corporation and is the 4th largest in Indiana; and <br /> liferea4 the Council notes that LaSalle Intermediate Academy, located at 2701 West Elwood Avenue in <br /> South Bend, educates students in the 5th through 8th grade under the leadership of Principal Nathan Boyd, <br /> who oversees many special programs such as creative learning studios, science labs, independent research, <br /> technology infused instruction, state of the art computer labs, accelerated mathematics programs, foreign <br /> language programs and an on-site television studio; and <br /> Ciera LaSalle Intermediate Academy has developed a "uniquely designed curriculum" which consists of <br /> core advanced academic objects which exceed the expectations outlined in the Indiana Academic Standards. <br /> 'ok grer •e; learettoker4*die om tCyidie v i yfOl. ndra at aifik mi: <br /> Section I. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council is <br /> pleased to publicly commend and congratulate LASALLE INTERMEDIATE ACADEMY for being <br /> selected by the U.S. Department of Education as one of eight Indiana schools selected for the 2012-2013 <br /> academic year as a"NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL". <br /> Section II.
