<br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,INDIANA, PUBLICLY
<br /> COMMENDING AND HONORING SISTER SUSAN KINTZELE,C.S.C.,FOR HER COUNTLESS
<br /> CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY
<br /> Offeemad, the South Bend Common Council is proud to recognize that Sister Susan Kintzele, C.S.C. was one of eleven
<br /> Sisters of the Holy Cross who celebrated their jubilee years in Holy Cross this Summer, with Sister Sue celebrating her Golden
<br /> Jubilee having made her First Profession in 1962; and
<br /> Offemtga, the Common Council notes that for the past 52 years, Sister Susan Kintzele, C.S.C., has diligently and
<br /> compassionately worked on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged throughout our city in countless community service outreach
<br /> programs; and
<br /> since 1975, Sister Sue has served as the Director of the Bail Bond Project, and can be seen almost on a daily
<br /> basis counseling many persons in and around the St.Joseph County Courthouse and throughout downtown South Bend; and
<br /> Olifierea, as a trained Pastoral Counselor, who earned her undergraduate degree from Saint Mary's and her Master's
<br /> from Notre Dame in mathematics, Sister Sue donates her time and many talents to countless boards and commissions some of
<br /> which include overseeing the LaSalle Park Homes, Dismas House of Michiana,the YWCA, JJC's Pastoral Advisory Board,the
<br /> Parish Council of St.Augustine Church,the Justice and Peace Center,and the DuComb Center of St. Joseph County; and
<br /> OHS Sister Sue was one of the leaders who spearheaded the raising of over$200,000 to support the mission of Saint
<br /> Mary's College's Office for Civic and Social Engagement, a nationally recognized resource center which facilitates St. Mary's
<br /> volunteer efforts in the community; and
<br /> 6licomms, Sister Sue has been honored for her dedicated work & service as part of the Prisoner Re-Entry programs,
<br /> "Companions on the Journey", & received the T. Brooks Brademas Lifetime Achievement Award for over 35 years of
<br /> ministering to inmates-just to name a few of her many honors&awards,while she continues to teach math at IU South Bend.

<br /> Weeton I. On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council honors, publicly
<br /> commends and congratulates SISTER SUSAN KINTZELE, C.S.C., a native of Michigan City for her many, many
<br /> deeds of kindness and in particular for carrying out along life's journey to "work collaboratively to forge just
<br /> political, economic and social structures in solidarity with impoverished and excluded persons".
<br /> Oreeffo II. Sister Sue's work in prison ministries provides hope in times of despair and "encouragement to
<br /> those who need it". Perhaps one of the most telling of all of Sister Sue's many attributes is the time she spends as a
<br /> godmother to 15-year old Annie Johnson, a sophomore at St. Joseph High School, who she has helped raise since
<br /> Annie's infancy, who she affectionately calls "The Village Child".
