r i
BOpiRD OF PUBLIC WORKS
INTER--OFFICE MEMORANDUM
DATE : November 2 , 1990
TO: IRENE K. GAMMON, CITY CLE
FROM: SANDRA M. PARMERLEE, CLER
RE: VACATION PETITION - 1ST `//W ALLEY S. OF MONROE STREET
Your office recently provided to the Board of Public Works a
Vacation Petition to vacate the following alley:
The 1st East to West alley South of Monroe Street, running
West from Fellows Street to the intersection of the alley
running South from Monroe Street to South Street, for a
distance of approximately 130 feet.
As the Petition did not contain a map indicating the alley to be
vacated, I asked the Engineering Department to provide such a map
to me for inclusion with the letters I send to the Petitioner as
well as the affected property owners advising them of the Board' s
Public Hearing date regarding the vacation.
Mr. Larry Spradlin of the Engineering Department has advised me
that the above referred to alley has already been vacated. He
therefore contacted the Petitioner, Mr. Panzica, and together they
determined that the alley to be vacated is as follows:
The 1st East/West alley North of South Street located
between the West line of Fellows Street and the East
line of the first North/South alley West of Fellows
Street for a distance of approximately 132 feet and a
width of approximately 11 feet, of which the North
half of the alley is situated in Stern' s Subdivision
and the South half of the alley is situated in Ann E.
Jodon' s Subdivision. Both parts are located in the
East half of the Southwest Quarter of Section 12,
Township 37 North, Range 2 East, in the City of South
Bend, St. Joseph County, IN
Therefore, as the Vacation Petition originally submitted is
incorrect and cannot be utilized, I am returning it to you so you
can advise the Petitioner that he will need to submit a corrected
Petition and Ordinance. For your information, I have been informed
that the list of abutting and affected property owners originally
submitted is still correct and therefore the same envelopes can be
utilized.
If I can be of any further assistance to you in this matter, please
don' t hesitate to call me.
