•.. * ... <br /> BILL NO. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. $ 0 g -g, k <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA APPROVING <br /> PARKING RATES FOR PARKING GARAGES AND PARKING <br /> LOTS OPERATED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> I.C. 36-9-11-7 authorizes the Board of Public Works to fix the <br /> rates and charges to be collected for parking vehicles in parking <br /> facilities owned and operated by the City and for other use of those <br /> parking facilities so as to promote the maximum use of the facilities <br /> by the public in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner. Such rates <br /> fixed by the Board of Public Works are subject to the approval of the <br /> Common Council. The Council has received Resolution No. 11-1990 of <br /> the Board of Public Works, a copy of which is attached hereto and <br /> made a part hereof, which establishes rates for city-owned parking <br /> facilities, both parking garages and parking lots. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City <br /> of South Bend, Indiana as follows: <br /> SECTION I . The following monthly rates shall be charged for <br /> individual vehicles parked at the Municipal Services Facility parking <br /> lot: <br /> Rate <br /> (a) Municipal Services Facility, $16.00 per mo. <br /> SECTION II. The following monthly rates shall be charged for <br /> vehicles parked at City operated parking garages: <br /> Rate <br /> (a) Per vehicle, on a month-to-month basis $40 .00 per mo. <br /> (b) Per vehicle, on a three-year contract $43 . 00 per mo. <br /> (c) Per vehicle, on a five-year contract $48. 00 per mo. <br /> (d) Group rates on a monthly contract <br /> 5-49 vehicles $35.00 per mo. <br /> 50 or more vehicles $32. 00 . per mo. <br /> (e) Priority for committing parking spaces within a City <br /> operated parking garage shall be given to vehicles with the longest <br /> term parking contract and the highest monthly rental rate. Commitment <br /> of spaces within a parking garage within a particular rate structure <br /> shall be determined based upon ( 1) the number of parking spaces <br /> committed per single billing; ( 2) the length of time the person has <br /> committed spaces within that garage; and ( 3) the payment experience <br /> of the account. <br /> Persons entering into long term agreements for parking may be <br /> granted an option to renew within the discretion of the Board of <br /> Public Works or its designee. <br /> SECTION III.
