Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> 2005 South Bend Common Council <br /> The September 12, 2005 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David A. Varner at 4:20 p.m. in the Council <br /> Informal Meeting Room <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Dieter, Pnzzello,Kelly, Varner,Kuspa,White <br /> and Rouse; Citizen Member Martha Lewis, Director of Public Works Gary Gilot, Rita Kopala, <br /> Executive Director of the Department of Community and Economic Development Sharon <br /> Kendall,Building Commissioner Don Fozo,Don Inks,Mike Teeter, City Clerk John Voorde and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand,Council Attorney. <br /> Dr. Varner noted that the Committee members included Council Members Rouse, Puzzello, <br /> White and himself. <br /> Dr. Varner then called for a presentation Bill No. 48-05 which is a request to vacate a portion of <br /> an alley which is located south of Calvert Street From Franklin Street of the first north/south <br /> alley located in the Shively's Addition. He noted that the request received a favorable <br /> recommendation from the Board of Public Works (copy attached). <br /> The petitioner,Mike Teeter,of 1903 Franklin stated that the alley in question is grown over with <br /> trees and weeds. He plans to landscape the area if approved. <br /> No one from the public spoke in favor or in opposition to the Bill. <br /> Council Member Kuspa noted that he had difficulty locating the alley in question. Mr. Teeter <br /> provided a better map to him of the area in question. Council Member Kuspa stated that he <br /> eventually found the alley and spoke in favor of the vacation request. <br /> Council Member Puzzello then made a motion, seconded by Council Member Rouse that Bill <br /> No. 48-05 be recommended favorably to Council.
