Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> 2005 South Bend Common Council <br /> The January 24, 2005 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by <br /> its Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly at 4:15 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting <br /> Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Dieter, Pfeifer, Kelly, Pnzzello, Varner, <br /> Kuspa, Kirsits, White and Rouse; Executive Director of Community and Economic <br /> Development Sharon Kendall; City Clerk John Voorde, Assistant City Attorney Thomas L. <br /> Bodnar, Assistant Fire Chief Rick Switalski, Batallion Chief Greg Metzger and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand,Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Kelly called for a presentation on Bill No. 33-05 which would amend Chapter <br /> 2, Article 18 of the South Bend Municipal Code to set and adjust fees for documents and <br /> services. <br /> Assistant City Attorney Thomas L. Bodnar made the presentation. He reviewed the proposed <br /> changes to existing charges, noting that$5.00 was the amount used in calculating 15 minutes of <br /> time for a Clerk Terminal Operator. Motor vehicle accident reports will go from$3.00 to $5.00; <br /> rebuilt salvage inspection reports will be $5.00; request to process limited criminal history <br /> reports will be$3.00 and requests from the subject for a copy of a limited criminal history report <br /> will be $5.00; a copy of another person's limited criminal history report will be $7.00; <br /> processing a request for a limited juvenile history report will be $5.00; materials other than <br /> public records will be $10.00 plus $.10 per pay, $15.00 per tape, $15.00 for the 1st photograph <br /> and $5.00 for all photographs thereafter; $1.00 plus postage for requested mailing of public <br /> records. <br /> $ar,. <br /> Mr. Bandar.noted that new fees will include $10.00 for a handgun license application; CPAT. <br /> testing offered to other fire departments being$640.00 for set up and break down costs; $320.00 <br /> for a training session conducted by the South Bend Fire Department; and $40.00 per applicant <br /> who is to be tested which is conducted by the South Bend Fire Department. Mr. Bodnar added <br /> that the fees for the CPAT were based on$20.00 per hour for the time of a firefighter. <br /> Dr. Varner suggested that the city could also look into sending requested items DOD. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Kuspa made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner that Bill <br /> No. 3-05 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Kelly <br /> adjourned the meeting at 4:24 p.m. <br /> R- ysu <br /> Council ember oland 4lly, Chairperson <br /> Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> Attachment KCF:kmf <br /> Personnel and Finance Committee of the 2005 South Bend Common Council -page 1- <br />
