<br />Version 2/14/2020 Page - 5 Public Works Quote <br />XV. DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br /> <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: None <br />B. Additions <br />1. Work to be performed shall include furnishing all labor, services, materials, insurance and <br />equipment to remove and replace existing stainless steel raw water pipe, fittings, supports, <br />and butterfly valve connected to Vessel 2 within the North Station Water Treatment Plant <br />located at 830 North Michigan Street within the City of South Bend. <br />2. Prior to submittal of the quote proposal, the bidder shall visit North Station to see the raw water <br />header and conduct any necessary measurements. Visits shall be coordinated with Becca Plantz <br />contacted at (574) 235-5998 during business hours Monday through Friday between 8:00 am to <br />4:00 pm. <br />3. The Contractor shall preserve and protect all surrounding property, structures, tenants, visitors, <br />and their property from damage caused by the Contractor’s operations. <br />4. The work to be completed shall include: <br />a. Dimension existing piping for prefabrication. <br />b. Install 12” blind flange in 12” flanges or propose an equivalent means and methods to <br />obstruct flow for construction. <br />c. Demolish 12” stainless steel pipe and fittings. <br />d. Remove and salvage 12” stainless steel butterfly valve. <br />e. Fabricate and install new valve supports for new 12” valve location. <br />f. Install 12” SCH 80 PVC pipe, fittings, and flanges in place of existing, reusing hangers. <br />g. Install saddle clamp for ¾” port and stainless steel ball valve. <br />h. Reroute electrical services to new valve location. <br />i. Prior to final acceptance, the Contractor shall cleanup the construction area. The site <br />shall be left neat and clean in condition acceptable to the Owner. <br /> <br />XVI. PIPING REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION <br /> <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: None <br />B. ASTM D 1785, Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe Fittings, Schedule 80. <br />b. ASTM D 2564, Solvent Cements for Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe and Fittings. <br />c. ASTM D 2467, Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe and Fittings. <br />d. ASTM D 2464, Threaded Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe Fittings, Schedule 80. <br />e. ASTM D 1599, Test for Resistance to Short-Time Hydraulic Pressure of Plastic Pipe, Tubing, <br />and Fittings. <br />f. ASTM D 2122, Test for Determining Dimensions of Thermoplastic Pipe and Fittings. <br />g. ASTM D 1598, Test for Time-to-Failure of Plastic Pipe Under Constant Pressure. <br />h. ANSI B2.1, Pipe Threads. <br />2. Submittals <br />a. Shop Drawings and Product Data: Manufacturer’s data showing material composition of pipe <br />and fittings, pressure ratings, pipe layout, and verification as to compatibility with respective <br />fluids being conveyed. <br />3. Piping Materials <br />a.
