Suspension and pressure control shall be <br />hydraulic, automatic self-adjusting and maintain a set pattern <br />throughout the broom life with no input from the operator. <br />Broom pressure indicator shall be a gauge in the engine <br />compartment. Independently operated arms to maintain a set <br />pattern over all surfaces, without the use of shock, springs or <br />linkages. Main broom shall be prefab disposable type, filled with <br />polypropylene. Sweeping path shall be not less than 10 feet wide <br />with right and left side broom activated. Main broom shall be <br />shielded by a hinged steel broom hood. Plastic hoods are not <br />acceptable. Main broom hood shall be designed to not only <br />prevent material from being over thrown into following traffic, <br />but also be capable of channeling over throw back into the dirt <br />chamber. Main broom shall have a work light. Main broom shall <br />be hydraulically raised or lowered by in -cab control. Main broom <br />grease fittings shall be centrally located. The main broom motor <br />shall be able to apply 7266 lb. -in of torque to the broom without <br />stalling. <br />Water System: Tank capacity shall be not less than 360 U.S. gallons (1368 L). <br />Tank shall be constructed of polyethylene. To prevent the <br />contamination of the water supply, tank shall be equipped with <br />an anti -siphon device Compliant to American National Standard <br />Air gaps in plumbing systems ASME A112.12-1991. Three (3) <br />spray nozzles at each side broom and three (3) spray nozzles on <br />rear broom spray bar. An 80 -mesh filter on suction line in-line <br />water filter shall be provided with the fill hose to prevent <br />contaminants from entering the water tank. Spray water pump <br />shall be an electric diaphragm type to provide adequate flow and <br />pressure to properly atomize water for efficient dust control. <br />Controls: Dual steering as factory installed by the chassis manufacturer and <br />certified by the Department of Transportation. All sweeping <br />controls to be mounted on a central terminal for use at both <br />operator locations. All gauges to be lighted and located on the <br />control panel. All auxiliary engine controls to be mounted on the <br />central control panel. All switches and controls to be clearly <br />marked as to their function and lighted for both cab over and <br />conventional models. Sweeper engine instruments shall include <br />tachometer, hour meter, oil pressure gauge and lamp, air filter <br />restriction indicator (at engine). Sweeper instruments shall <br />include main broom down pressure hydraulic filter restriction <br />indicator, sweeper out of level and full hopper indicators.
