REGULAR MEETING MARCH 24, 2008 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 15-08 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> APPROPRIATING $794,574.67 WITHIN FUND 209 FOR <br /> THE PURPOSE OF REDEVELOPMENT OF THE <br /> STUDEBAKER-OLIVER PROJECT AREA <br /> <br />Councilmember Dieter, Chairperson, Community and Economic Development <br />Committee, reported that this committee held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon <br />and voted to send it to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. <br /> <br />Ms. Ann Kolata, Senior Redevelopment Specialist, Department of Community and <br />Economic Development advised that the Studebaker/Oliver Redevelopment Project is a <br />significant brownfield revitalization project within the City of South Bend and funding <br />the costs of this project is a priority. The bill would appropriate $794,675.67 from Fund <br />No. 209 to pursue the necessary redevelopment activities in the Studebaker/Oliver Project <br />Area including costs of acquisition, relocation, demolition, site preparation, <br />environmental assessment and remediation, and other similar costs. These funds are non- <br />tax revenue funds that have recently been received by the City and deposited into Fund <br />No. 209. <br /> <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this bill, Councilmember White made a motion for favorable <br />recommendation to full Council concerning this bill. Councilmember Puzzello seconded <br />the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 82-07 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 19, SECTION 2- <br /> 213(a) OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE TO <br /> UPDATE THE TABLE OF CODE VIOLATIONS AND <br /> PENALTIES <br /> <br />Councilmember LaFountain made a motion to continue this bill until the April 14, 2008 <br />meeting of the Council at the request of the petitioner.
