r � <br /> X- <br /> Ordinance No. <br /> Bill No. <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARIES FOR THE COUNCIL <br /> MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2013 <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> Indiana Code § 36-4-7-2 sets forth the governing law for the legislative branch of <br /> city government be requiring it to "fix the annual compensation of all elected officials". <br /> This law provides in part that such compensation may "...not be changed in the year for <br /> which it is fixed,nor may it be reduced below the amount fixed for the previous year". <br /> This ordinance proposes a maximum of a two percent increase for 2013, <br /> representing a proposed increase of $343. <br /> Ay/tow/aimed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br /> Indiana, as follows: <br /> Section I. The maximum salaries for the members of the South Bend Common Council <br /> in calendar year 2013 shall be established as follows: <br /> 2012 2013 <br /> $17,238 $17,581 <br /> Section II.
