ORDINANCE NO. i 2 '7 9 AN ORDINANCE. OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL AMENDING SECTION 9-2 OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE, ENTITLED "FIRE PREVENTION ORDINANCE" STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT For many years the City of South Bend has had a Fire Prevention Ordinance to help it to reduce the likelihood of fire destroying property and lives of its citizens which Ordinance: relies upon and. calls for the enforcement of the Indiana Fire Prevention Code. The Fire Prevention Code of the State of Indiana has recently been updated and keeping with its purpose the South. Bend Fire Prevention Ordinance should reflect this update. NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT ORDAINED BY THE. COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I: Section 9-2 of the South Bend Municipal Code shall be and hereby is amended as follows: The IFPC, 1985 1990 edition, as promulgated by the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission, together with any and all references thereto is made a part of this chapter with the same force and effect as though set out in full herein as the. official fire prevention code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, except for such changes, additions or deletions as are specified in this chapter. At least two (2) copies of such fire prevention code with such amendments and supplements are on file and open for public inspection in the offices of the Fire Department and. Office. of the Building Commissioner of the City of South Bend, Indiana. SECTION II: Section 9-5 of the South Bend Municipal Code shall be and hereby is deleted in its entirety.
