City of South Bend Central Services Division <br />Fire Service, Inc./Wheeled Coach Ambulance <br />Specification <br />The corners of the modular body shall be designed and engineered by the primary <br />manufacturer and constructed of 6063-T6 alloy aluminum. The corner extrusion <br />shall be double hollow with a minimum thickness of .125 and .250 at the outer <br />corner. The extrusion is designed with a unique forty five degree angled <br />appearance while maintaining very high strength and impact energy absorption. <br />A polyurethane sealer shall be applied to seal the crevice between the corner <br />extrusions and the side assemblies. <br />The side assemblies shall be reinforced utilizing 6061-T6 alloy aluminum two by <br />two box tubing. The side structures shall frame a perimeter around all door <br />openings and shall be a minimum or .125 in thickness. Intermediate skin stiffeners <br />shall be located to preclude skin deformation. Additional gusset plates shall be <br />.250 inch aluminum and shall be welded at all contact points between the corner <br />assembly and the roof perimeter. <br />This agency is extremely concerned with purchasing a vehicle from a primary <br />manufacturer who can provide the necessary service after sale. Therefore, as <br />previously stated the modular shall have a fifteen year warranty and be <br />engineered, designed and built by the primary manufacturer. <br />This agency is extremely concerned that the modular body be designed and built <br />with the highest level of integrity and quality. Documentation and certification <br />that the modular body being proposed meets Static Load Test Code for <br />Ambulance Body Structure AMD Standard 001 must be included with this <br />proposal. <br />Ouality and Safety Documentation. <br />The ambulance manufacturer responding to this vehicle specification shall <br />demonstrate to this Agency that the ambulance being proposed offers the highest <br />possible quality and safety standards. <br />To meet this Agency's requirements for quality the Bidder shall provide <br />documentation that the ambulance manufacturer has in place a quality <br />management system that meets the requirements of the International Organization <br />for Standardization (ISO).
