A s-2 -4 <br /> AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $139,000 FROM THE COMMUNITY <br /> DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING <br /> THE EXPENSES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND DESIGNATED SUBGRANTEE <br /> AGENCIES FOR THE PROGRAM YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1992 <br /> TO BE ADNUNISTERED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT. <br /> Statement of Purpose and Intent: <br /> The government of the City of South Bend, in partnership with the City's <br /> private sector and residents, is committed to the goal of improving the <br /> "quality of life" in the City, its neighborhoods, and for its residents. As <br /> part of this commitment to a comprehensive community development and <br /> improvement program, the City of South Bend through its Department of Economic <br /> Development will apply for and anticipates receiving on or about January 1, <br /> 1992, the approval of the United States Department of Housing and Urban <br /> Development to expend an additional $139,000 in the execution of certain <br /> housing rehabilitation/assistance, code development, public service, and <br /> general program planning and development activities. In order to implement the <br /> aforementioned activities, funds are required. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South <br /> Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br /> SECTION I. The sum of $139,000 is hereby appropriated for the program year <br /> starting January 1, 1992, from the City of South Bend's Community Development <br /> Block Grant Fund (Program Year 1992) . The appropriation shall be used as <br /> approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under <br /> Title Twenty-four (24) of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred <br /> and Seventy (570) for the Community Development Program Year 1992. This <br /> appropriation shall be administered by the Department of Economic Development <br /> and its designated subgrantees and will be distributed as set forth below: <br /> B-92-MC-18-0011 <br /> Community ty Development Program <br /> Purpose Project No. Amount <br /> West Washington Housing CD92-102 $139,000 <br /> TOTAL $139,000 <br /> SECTION II. No costs will be incurred or funds expended for any of the <br /> activities addressed in this ordinance prior to completion and subsequent <br /> certification of the Environmental Review Process specified under Title <br /> Twenty-four (24) of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part Fifty-eight (58) and <br /> an official release of funds received from the United States Department of <br /> Housing and Urban Development. <br /> SEC;I.ION III.
