TO NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN EUCLID AVE.
AND CLEVELAND AVE.
Mr. Gilot indicated that Mr. Patrick D. Chodzinski, 1212 Poplar St., South Bend, IN 46628, has
submitted a request to vacate the above referenced unused alley to use as access to his garage.
Mr. Gilot advised the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation
Petition from the Street Department, Fire Department, Police Department, and Engineering.
Community Investment stated the alley is not adjacent to the petitioner's property, a requirement
of IC 36-7-3-12 regarding the right to petition for the vacation of a public right-of-way. The
Board also noted that the vacation process closes the alley and divides the property between the
adjacent property owners. Since the petitioner is not an adjacent property owner, if the alley were
vacated, the petitioner would no longer be able to use it to access their garage which was the
stated purpose of the vacation request. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion for an
unfavorable recommendation of the request for vacation. Mr. Molnar seconded the motion
which carried by roll call.
APPROVE/DENY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
Upon a motion made by Ms. Maradik, seconded by Mr. Molnar and carried by roll call, the
following traffic control device requests were approved:
NEW INSTALLATION: Handicapped Accessible Parking Space Sign
LOCATIONS: 535 S.
