Dillard, the denomination’s architect for their regional office in
Chicago. The building, taking a prominent corner on Notre Dame Avenue, has features of both
Craftsman and Tudor or “English” architecture, as described by the architect. The congregation
consolidated with another in 1968 and the following year the building became home to the Olivet
African Methodist Episcopal Church, the oldest African-American congregation in South Bend.
