' NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS OF BUDGET ESTIMATES AND TAX LEVIES
<br />Notice is hereby given the taxpayers of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the City of South Bend Common
<br />Council will conduct a public hearing on the 2004 Budget for the City of South Bend. The Public Hearing will be
<br />held on Monday, September 8, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 4th Floor, County-City Building, 227
<br />West Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Indiana 46601.
<br />Following this meeting, any ten or more taxpayers may object to a Budget, Tax Rate, or Tax Levy by filing an
<br />objection petition with the proper officers of the political subdivision within seven days after the hearing. The
<br />objection petition must identify the provisions of the Budget, Tax Rate, or Tax Levy that the taxpayers object to. If a
<br />petition is filed, the political subdivision shall adopt with its budget a finding concerning the objections filed and
<br />testimony presented.
<br />Following the aforementioned meeting, the Ci~of South Bend Common Council will meet on Monday, September
<br />22, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chamfers, 4th~F.l~oor, County-City Building, 227 West Jefferson Blvd., South
<br />Bend, Indiana 46601 to adopt the fol~owing 2003 Budget for the City of South Bend.

<br />Taxpayers appearing at the hearing shall have an opportunity to be heard. After the tax levies have been determined,
<br />fixed by the appropriate governing body, and the tax rates published by the County Auditor, ten or more taxpayers
<br />objecting to the levies may appeal to the State Board of Tax Commissioners by filing a petition with the County
<br />Auditor. The petition must be filed on or before the tenth day after publication of the tax rates charged. Upon
<br />certification of the objecting petition by the County Auditor, the State Board of Tax Commissioners will fix a date
<br />for hearing in this county.
