Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Board Insulation: Complies with ASTM C578. <br />1. Board Thickness: 2 inches. <br />2. Board Edges: Square. <br />3. Type and Thermal Resistance, R-value (RSI-value): Type XI, 3.1 (0.55) per 1 inch <br />thickness at 75 degrees F mean temperature using ASTM C177 test method. <br />4. Type and Board Density: Type XI, 0.70 pcf (12 kg/cu m), minimum. <br />5. Type and Compressive Resistance: Type XI, 5 psi (35 kPa), minimum. <br />6. Surface Burning Characteristics: Flame spread/Smoke developed index of 25/450, when <br />tested in accordance with ASTM E84. <br />2.4 ACCESSORY MATERIALS <br />A. Insulation Adhesive: Type required by EIFS manufacturer for project substrate. <br />B. Perforated Base Insulation Hangers: 12 guage annealed low carbon steel pin on 2" x 2" square <br />galvanized steel plate with round perforations. Length as required for insulation board. <br />1. Provide locking washer to hole insulation in place. <br />C. Pin Adhesive: Formulated to bond insulation hangers to concrete. <br />D. Trim: EIFS manufacturer's standard PVC or galvanized steel trim accessories, as required for a <br />complete project and including starter track and drainage accessories. <br />E. Sealant Materials: Compatible with EIFS materials and as recommended by EIFS <br />manufacturer. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br />A. Verify that substrate is sound and free of oil, dirt, other surface contaminants, efflorescence, <br />loose materials, or protrusions that could interfere with EIFS installation and is of a type and <br />construction that is acceptable to EIFS manufacturer. Do not begin work until substrate and <br />adjacent materials are complete and thoroughly dry. <br />B. Verify that substrate surface is flat, with no deviation greater than 1/4 in when tested with a 10 <br />ft straightedge. <br />3.2 INSTALLATION - GENERAL <br />A. Install in accordance with EIFS manufacturer's instructions and ASTM C1397. <br />I. Where different requirements appear in either document, comply with the most stringent. <br />2.
