JONES <br />CITY CLERK, SOUTH BEND, IN <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />COMMUNITY INVESTMENT <br />August 19, 2020 <br />Council Member Jake Teshka, Chairperson <br />Community Investment Committee <br />South Bend Common Council <br />4th Floor, County City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: Residential Real Property Tar Abatement Petition for: South Bend Mutual Homes 11, L.P. <br />Dear Council Member Teshka: <br />Please find the attached information pertaining to a residential real property tax abatement petition <br />submitted by South Bend Mutual Homes 11, L.P. to build 10 single-family homes as part of a housing <br />cooperative in the Southeast and Northwest neighborhoods. This petition package includes: <br />> Department of Community Investment's summary report <br />Petition <br />> Statement of Benefits form <br />Supporting information. <br />The report contains the Department's findings relative to the above petition. The petitioner proposes to <br />build 10 affordable single-family homes with an approximate investment amount of $2,166,000. The <br />project meets the qualifications for a (5) five-year residential property tax abatement and a representative <br />from South Bend Mutual Homes Il, L.P. will be available to meet with the Committee on Monday, August <br />24, 2020. <br />The petitioner also requested a 3 -year extension of the existing residential tax abatement, which was <br />approved by the Common Council in July 2018, a designating resolution #4721-18. That project consisted <br />of building 14 affordable single-family homes in the area north of Lincoln Way West and west of Sherman <br />Street.
