South Bend Fire Department <br />CommanderChassis <br />One (1)Steps w/Grip Strut Lwr,Treadplate Middle <br />03-06-0015 <br />CAB STEPS <br />The cab steps shall meetNFPA 13-7.3 in sizeandslip resistance requirements. <br />The cab shall incorporate a two-step design at each door, with a first step height of approximately <br />22ā€¯fromtheground.Theleadingedgeofthefirststepshallbe5"furtheroutboardthanthesecond <br />step to provide a staircase design for saferegress. <br />Thefrontcabfirststepshallmeasureaminimumof33"widex10"deep.Thefrontcab <br />intermediate step shall measurea minimum 31" wide x 8" deep. <br />The crewcab first step shall measurea minimumof 26" wide x 10" deep. The crewcab <br />intermediate step shall measurea minimum 28" wide x 9" deep. <br />The top crew step shall incorporate an angle approximately midway from the rear wall to the <br />crew door hinge extending out the flooring under the rear facing outer seatpositions, offering <br />foot placement for safety while seated in this position. <br />CAB STEP TRIM <br />The cab steps shall include a 12 gauge 304 Grip Strut stainless steel construction on the first step, <br />the step closest to the ground. The stainless steel finish shall be a number 7mirror. The step shall <br />include a frame which isintegral with the construction of the cab forrigidity and strength. The <br />Grip Strut shall allow water and other debris to flow through rather than becoming packed under <br />the step. The middle step shall be integral with the cab in construction and shall be trimmed in <br />3003-H22 embossed aluminum tread plate whichis 0.084" thick. <br />One (1)BarrierFree CabEntry Doors <br />03-06-1026 <br />BARRIER FREE DOORS <br />The cab doors shall be "barrierfree" style, meaning the door shall be constructed to cover the <br />entry down to the intermediate step, leaving the bottom step open.
