involved replacing windows that were original to the house. She does not feel that replacing
these non -original windows would detract from the character of the house or the neighborhood,
and she would not consider replacing the original windows of her house elsewhere.
Administrator Feasel clarified that during the COVID emergency staff has dialogued extensively with
our legal representation to ensure that staff was properly administratively approving projects that
are in compliance with the applicable standards and guidelines. This project was very close to
being administratively approved, these windows are less conspicuous from the street view, the
windows that are currently in place may or may not be original to the addition, but they do not
match the windows installed on the original house. Although these windows are vinyl, they do
have simulated divided-lites, where the pattern of the original windows will be replicated. The
selected windows do replicate the pattern and style of the original windows, but staff did not feel
quite comfortable administratively approving it, so you are receiving it. Although staff
recommended a different window, staff does support the selected product.
Ms. Storme clarified that she further considered other material options.
Commissioner Andrews clarified as to which windows on the house were original and received
confirmation that the second story windows were original.
Commissioner Downs-Krostenko asked for clarification as to whether this area was a later addition.
Ms. Storme clarified that there was at one point an out -door grill on the inside of the structure in one of
these spaces based upon a previous project. It is possible that this was added in 1949.
Specialist Toering clarified that he checked the 1932 Assessor Card and he unfortunately did not include
that with the packet, but it did reveal that this was a later addition.
Commissioner Downs-Krostenko stated that this was a project that needs to move forward.
Commissioner Deegan agreed, as did Commissioner Stalheim.
N/A
Commissioner Andrews made a motion to approve COA #2020-0402. Seconded by
Commissioner Tiffany.
Six in favor, none opposed.
Vote: 6 — 0.
