The public can and does speak when BPW holds public hearing items or when they have an agenda item. The Board acknowledges that while we don't get much input at formal regular BPW meetings, we have a strong culture and practice of informal dialogue at the public agenda review meetings. Those agenda sessions are advertised public meetings that are great for input and informal dialogue, but unfortunately have been canceled due to COVID-19. We will be glad when we can reinstitute them when it is safe to hold such gatherings again. Given this context, the Council Representative's point is well taken that we should work with IT to make our online virtual regular BPW meetings more open to input from the public we serve as well as the input of staff who are closer to project details as questions come up from the public or board members.)
