COMMUNITY 8~ ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br />The April 14, 2008 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee of the <br />South Bend Common Council was called to order by Ann Puuello, Member of the Community <br />and Economic Development Committee at 3:15 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. <br />Persons in attendance included Council Member's Timothy Rouse, Tom LaFountain, David <br />Varner, Oliver Davis; Catherine Andres, Citizen Member, Mark Smith, Citizen Member, Kathleen <br />Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney, Jamie Loo, Don Inks, Bob Mathia, John Voorde, City Clerk. <br />Committee Members present, Karen L. White, Member; Ann Puzzello, Member <br />BILL N0.08-30 <br />Bob Mathia from Economic Development reported that the petitioner had fulfilled all protocols of <br />the abatement application resulting in a favorable recommendation from Community and <br />Economic Development. Though final company plans were not available Mathia reported the <br />petitioner, a manufacturer of consumable dental products was consolidating administrative <br />operations in South Bend. This would create 35 new jobs and retain 61. At a 7 year abatement <br />schedule indicates $277,908 would be abated and $213, 964 would be paid in taxes. Bernie <br />Bolka a VP of Heraeus Kulzer, the petitioner explained the company's intentions further. After <br />brief discussion on a motion by Council Member Karen White, seconded by Citizen Member <br />Catherine Andres and unanimously supported, the bill went to Council favorably. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Puuello <br />adjourned the meeting at 3:24 p.m. <br />Re ectfully Sub ed, <br />nn Puzzello, Member <br />Community and Economic Development Committee <br />
