'3/3-94 <br /> • <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING ARTICLE 11 <br /> OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO <br /> THE REGISTRATION OF BUILDING CONTRACTORS <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Article 11 of <br /> Chapter 6 of the Municipal Code by adding a provision requiring <br /> building contractors to provide a $5,000. 00 bond to the City as a <br /> part of the pre-licensing registration process. This ordinance <br /> also delays the effective date of the building contractor <br /> registration provisions to January 1, 1993. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section I. Section 6-50 of Article 11 of Chapter 6 of the South <br /> Bend Municipal Code is amended by adding subsection (e) as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 6-50 Pre-licensing Registration Process. <br /> (e) Surety bond. Each applicant for registration must also <br /> provide a surety bond payable to the City in the penal sum of <br /> five thousand dollars ( $5,000. 00) , conditioned upon faithful <br /> compliance with the provisions of the building code at it relates <br /> to work performed by the applicant, and agreeing to pay all <br /> damages, costs and expenses caused by the applicant through <br /> failure to comply with such provisions. <br /> Section II . The provisions of Chapter 6, Article 11 of the <br /> Municipal Code, as amended, relating to the pre-licensing <br /> registration of building contractors, shall become effective on <br /> January 1, 1993 . <br /> Section III.
