PUBLIC WORKS AND PROPERTY VACATION COMMITTEE <br />The April 14, 2008 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee of the South <br />Bend Common Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at <br />3:45 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. <br />Persons in attendance included Derek D. Dieter, Member, Tom LaFountain, Vice-President, <br />Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney; John Voorde, City Clerk <br />BILL N0.19-08 <br />Karen Ainsley representing the Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc, 1007 Portage Avenue, South <br />Bend, Indiana, explained the petition to vacate what she described as a "nuisance" alley off <br />Leland just north of Portage. Council Member Dieter supported the petition noting the high <br />number of police calls in the area. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, noted the favorable <br />recommendation of the Board of Public Works. On a motion by Council Member Dieter and a <br />second by Council Member LaFountain support was forthcoming for the vacation. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council member Varner <br />adjourned the meeting at 3:54 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />_.__ - t~ /~ ~_ <br />David A.
